About Nikki at The Beauty Room

Hey y’all. I’m a newcomer to Springtown, but an experienced stylist licensed in 3 states. I have always had a passion for hair and people my entire life. I grew up in Southern California. Shorty after graduating high-school in 2003, I started Cosmetology school. Upon completion and passing my boards I began working and assisting my childhood hairdresser who taught me some amazing old school ways and the other girls helped me become versatile in many services. In 2008 I married my high-school sweetheart and with the economy and housing crash in 2008 we made a big move to Whidbey Island Washington. I am a sucker for small towns and loved the idea of living on an island. I quickly built a clientele and worked along side some inspiring hairdressers. I then really took my love for hair to another level becoming an in house/inclusive wedding hair/makeup artist to a wedding venue while maintaining a full clientele in a salon. I worked with some amazing brides and wedding parties, giving me some great experience and opportunities. I was featured many times in Seattle Bride and some smaller wedding vendor catalogs and got to do some really cool photo shoots. It was a dream come true. My husband and I were getting very serious about starting a family but, had many miscarriages. My husband and I were on different pages, I wanted to adopt and he wanted to try other methods. Unfortunately, due to my insane work schedule and Washingtons foster program schedule I was unable to commit. God always has a plan, sometimes we don’t understand what and why, and boy did he have one. A huge benefit of small towns is people knew our story and 2 beautiful children landed in our lap. Madison(4) and Cameron(18 months). We got the call on Saturday, met them Monday and picked them up Friday. Because we weren’t family/friends and they weren’t in the system it was a long 2 years of battling the drug addicted parents and the system that gave them many failed attempts at cleaning themselves up, we finally adopted them. We went on to successfully have our first birth child in the midst of all that. We had to sell our home to pay for adoption fees and attorney fees. At the time we knew it would be a good time to be close to our families in California. I went back to the same salon I started in years prior. That was short lived being shortly after we had 2 more babies in California making our total of 5 amazing kids. At that time we decided it was in our families best interest for me to take a step back and stay home with our kids. I never stopped doing hair it was just in a different setting, my kitchen. The longer we were back in California the more we realized we had to get out. To answer the question everyone keeps asking… why Springtown? Well, like I said before I am a sucker for small towns. Weatherford was on our radar but was not small enough. I joined all the small town Facebook pages and looked at the communities surrounding knowing my husband would be working in Fort Worth. We were ready to make the jump and head back out of California. We have been here since December 2021. We are really in love with the town and people. My kids are loving the schools(1 in preschool, 2 in Elementary, 1 in intermediate, and my oldest in high school) So it is my turn to go back to what I love. It feels like it was all meant to be walking into Salon 76082, meeting Ashley and realizing I wanted this more than I realized. So here I am, very excited to meet more people and spread my passion to Springtown.
